Star Wars Skywalker Series

My favorite movie series throughout my entire life. There are ups and downs in the series, but I think overall it is 100% still something that needs to be watched. It is also something that pushed the industry forward. Just look how Star Wars was received in 77.

Star Wars Skywalker Series

Synopsis

The Star Wars saga follows the rise, fall, and redemption of Anakin Skywalker, set against the backdrop of a galaxy-wide conflict between the Jedi and the Sith. The prequel trilogy (Episodes I-III) chronicles Anakin’s discovery as a powerful Force-sensitive child, his training as a Jedi, and his tragic transformation into Darth Vader under the influence of Emperor Palpatine. The original trilogy (Episodes IV-VI) shifts focus to Anakin’s children, Luke and Leia, as they lead the Rebel Alliance against the Empire, culminating in Vader’s redemption and the Emperor’s defeat. The sequel trilogy (Episodes VII-IX) introduces a new generation, with Rey rising as a Jedi to battle the First Order and its leader, Kylo Ren—Anakin’s grandson—ultimately bringing balance to the Force once again. Across all three trilogies, themes of destiny, family, and the struggle between good and evil drive the epic, galaxy-spanning story. Series Excerpts

I can't tell you how many times I have seen this movie. Especially as a kid. I used to watch it on a small TV in the car between the front two seats that had a VHS player at the bottom. It was revolutionary for our car trips. However, I used to be able to quote this movie word-for-word.

There is no language, violence that is non-graphic, and no sex. There isn't a lot of diversity to this movie at all. I don't think my mom would ever watch this on her own, but she has watched it with me. I know my dad doesn't enjoy this movie, but isn't opposed to it if it is on. Based on the rules, approved by both.

Ok, romance story and CGI woes out of the way. The cast does really well playing their characters. You can see the edges getting frayed and the mentality that will lead him to become Vader. That is really what these movies are about. The rise of Vader and his tyranny.

Just like the previous one, no sex, language, or gory violence. However, this is pushing their enjoyment of movies. There is no real substance to the movie and the action is so interspaced that my dad is out. There is no family oriented content, so my mom is out. Rejected by both.

The fight scenes are the best. I mean just look at Ewan and Hayden just spinning those things with such fluidity that it feels very natural. I remember seeing an interview, I think as part of the Obi-Wan TV show, where Ewan talked about them being so fast that they were told to slow down.

There are a couple scenes that while they do not show anything, the killing of the younglings would not sit well with my mom even now. There is no language, no sex, no blood and gore, but a multitude of dead bodies and heavier tones. While I do not think my dad would watch it, based on the rules he would approve. My mom would still reject it.

Ewan, Vivien, and Hayden are stellar in this show. Honestly, you should watch this just to see the rising star of Vivien Lyra Blair as she was by far my favorite part of the show, outside the lightsaber fights of course.

There is similar violence to that of the original Star Wars and that was ok for them to watch. There is no real language, maybe some "dank farrik" here and there, but I don't remember any. No sex, obviously. I am going to say approved by both as my mom would enjoy this as it is about take care of the kid and keeping promises.

The story is iconic. Of course, it is. There is a reason there is something around 12 movies, 3 TV shows (at least good ones), tons of books, and some great and terrible video games. This story speaks to us and I think it is that why even today, just show of 50 years later, it is still a great movie.

I talked about how often my family watched this movie in 2024 Episode 2 - The Skywalker Saga podcasts. I can vividly remember sitting behind the rocking chair playing with G.I. Joe's waiting for the scrolling text to leave. In fact, I let that play as I was getting ready for bed when watching it this time as I don't need the precursor information as I know the story. I say all this to say that I know my parents like the Original Star Wars movies. There is no language, the violence is pretty tame, and this movie has no sex in it. So green across the board and approved by both.

This is the slowest of the original trilogy in my opinion. There is just a lot of slower pace to this movie that really pulls me out of it. Mark, Harrison, and Carrie are still excellent in this movie. However, I made a comment in the Blade Runner review about Harrison Ford's kissing and it looks like he is eating an apple.

As with the last movie, I remember watching them with my parents and my whole family. There is just a solid vibe of goodness in this movie. No sex. Violence is there, but tame. Limited or zero language. What isn't there to like.

The fights both between force users against each other and non-force users like on Jabba's Barge are iconic and honestly awesome. There are so many scenes that just make you feel that you are there and really just get pulled into the events.

Like the others it is a widely accepted movie for them. I know my mom isn't a big fan of Princess Leia in the metal bikini, and honestly I agree. I obviously wasn't a budding young man when this came out. Even with this, it is approved by both.

There are a couple other storyline plots like that, that just looking back make very little sense to the story structure. However, I don't think any of them take away from the story that is told, especially from the lens of what they were trying to achieve. Brining another generation into being Star Wars Fans.

No sex, limited to no language, and the violence is not graphic. My dad is in, and my mom would watch it just to remember the old movies. I am going to say approved by both of them.

I can vividly remember walking out of the theater in Arizona and having a huge complaint about this movie. Leia being Mary Poppins. She is blasted into space, and is able to wake up, calling on the force and float like Mary Poppins into the ship.

This one is hard. There is no language, no sex, no graphic violence. So based on the rules, they both approve. However, I really need to ask them what they think. I am sure my mom won't care either way, but I think my dad would feel that it is childish and boring.

I forgot about the title, and remembered when I was uploading it to the site, so I need to talk about that. "Rey Skywalker." Absolutely stupid. Not sure where they were going with it, but I understand the idea that in this world the name "Jedi" is both good and bad.

This is all about the choice of family. Again no language, no sex, and clean violence (i.e., no gore). On the rules, they approve, but just like the last ones I don't know if they'd like this movie. I will have to ask.

My Rating

My favorite movie series throughout my entire life. There are ups and downs in the series, but I think overall it is 100% still something that needs to be watched. It is also something that pushed the industry forward. Just look how Star Wars was received in 77. My personal entertainment in this movie and one TV show series puts it at an 8. I'd say 9, but The Last Jedi pisses me off for the characters and the Mary Poppins.

Parental Rating

Overall, there is nothing offending in the series. Some violence for sure, but limited blood, no sex, and limited to no language. I know they enjoyed watching it with my and my brothers, but I don't think they'd both watch it without us or the Grandkids. Approved by both though.
