Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi

Synopsis

Han Solo is rescued from Jabba. The Rebels are planning an attack on the second Death Star. Luke attempts to save his dad, Darth Vader from the dark side.

Review

This is probably my favorite of original trilogy of Star Wars movies. It is just full of character growth from the previous two movies, and then you get full action and great story telling.

The fights both between force users against each other and non-force users like on Jabba's Barge are iconic and honestly awesome. There are so many scenes that just make you feel that you are there and really just get pulled into the events.

I think what I really like about this movie is that the character progression and development isn't forced. It feels natural to who there are even with the unknown amount of time between movies. For instance, the way Han and Leia talk to each other, and communicate isn't bratty anymore. Also, he has a mature response to circumspect news.

I watched a video about the 28 Days Later series, talking about how things were filmed and the ability to remaster them. Specifically that recording on film allows for better remastering where old digital recording isn't able to be that nice. This movie still looks good. Ian McDiarmid just absolutely sells his role, and you don't miss anything especially with him coming from the prequels. He is just solid.

My Rating

Like I said, my favorite movie of the original trilogy is this one. While I think the Ewoks were the movement of Lucasfilm moving to commercialization and that the humans gave them all their tactics, I still think that they are entertaining. The little Teddy bears poking people with a stick and just smacking Stormtroopers. Like I said it is very entertaining, and I am giving this a 9.

Parental Rating

Like the others it is a wildly accepted movie for them. I know my mom isn't a big fan of Princess Leia in the metal bikini, and honestly I agree. I obviously wasn't a budding young man when this came out. Even with this, it is approved by both.
