I understand and could agree with IMDB giving this a 6.7. It isn't great. There is a lot of weird blood splatter, impossible shots/fighting, and other things that just make you shake your head. It isn't great.

The acting is all over the place. Neither good nor bad throughout. Just there. I am struggling to find a series of thoughts that makes this worth the watch. I just feel that it just spins up what could be so good, but does the bare minimum to pull a story together.

The Martian
As that is one of my favorite books, this movie was such a risk and I had such a high standard. This hit it and blew past it. The changes to the movie are honestly so minimal that you don't miss anything of value. There is one joke from the book that was taken out that was my favorite

I think one of the best parts of this movie for me is one of the ending scenes where there is a conversation with a couple of the characters. They are talking about how this even happened and the conversation presents the idea that they are all in part responsible.

Not a lot of language, which is funny speaking that this is the movie where cap acts like my dad and says "Language" which is the best joke in the movie. No sex. Violence is against robots which some exceptions at the end.

This is where Chris Pratt came onto the map and honestly in such a good way. I know that people will say Parks and Rec, but they are wrong. His comedy might have brought him to the table, but this performance put him on the map.

I am about 10 days removed from this movie and I couldn't tell you what stands out other than the section of the story with Benedict Wong. He is probably one of the better players in this movie. Him and Josh Brolin. I could take or leave everyone else, especially the clown/witch lady.

Captain America The Winter Soldier
The action is also outstanding. The scene where The Winter Soldier catches the shield is crazy. When I first watched in theaters, I remember the audible gasp and just being "Oh shit." Between that and the scenes of attempting to stop the Helicarriers is just very well done.

As a note, I am intentionally not saying anything about the story outside of this as that is what makes this so wild. The ups and downs and whatnot is crazy. Also, one of the other hosts of the Epic Screen Time Podcast hasn't watch it yet.

Honestly the acting is outstanding. Stanley Tucci's dad role is so funny. The joke about the kid NOT being adopted is outstanding. I have seen this movie a few times and laugh every time. It just hit me right in the funny bone.

The story is excellent. I really like to think that everyone that has a hand held camera is in the same class their lives just happen to interact outside of class. You have some really serious elements, from the perspective of human trafficking, brotherhood, and drugs.
