Hit Man

Synopsis

Gary Johnson is a professor of philosophy and human psychology while also helping the local Police to build electronic equipment. Well, during an unusual event, Gary is asked to meet with someone looking to hire a hitman as part of a sting operation for the police. Shenanigans ensue.

Review

This movie was not what I expected. I honestly had no idea what it was about and had no real intention of watching it, but my father-in-law put it on while they were visiting. To be honest, while Glen Powell is a pretty good actor especially in this movie, I find him to be outrageously cocky and arrogant. I think he plays roles like that because it is a natural fit. I just don't like him. He is the only real standout performance, every one else is just the same the entire movie.

The story is where I just get angry. There are so many plot holes for a "true story" that it makes no sense. The send a non-cop to do a cop thing legally, he somehow doesn't have a conversation in 4 years about the events of the movie and makes up a crappy story that doesn't answer the question. He is showing up to court as himself and isn't given ANY under cover protections. No damn sense.

My Rating

This movie is pretty funny. There is at least one scene that is so incredibly out of place for the characters that it makes no sense. Basically they start having sex while a dude is dying. It just is awkward and doesn't fit the characters. The story is garbage overall. Between the plot holes, the stupid overly sexual scenes that served no purpose other than to have him "find someone who matches his crazy" as his friend of an ex-wife said. Its over the top terrible at times. My father-in-law gave it a 4, my wife gave it a 6 and I agree. It is bad. This is bad movie and never should have been made. Don't watch this 5.

Parental Rating

Sex, lots of it, language like teenagers learning to swear, and suggestive content. This entire movie is really just based on that idea for the characters. My dad is out with the amount of language that is there and my mom is out because of the amount of sex. While the movie would have funny points for them, it just isn't something they would watch. Rejected by both.
