Agatha All Along
This was an absolutely surprising show. I am not mad at any of the acting and the setting is really good. They do this weird thing where if you really want to pay attention you can tell that it is this technique of a painted background. However, it is painted in a way that it looks far away.
Synopsis
After the events with the Scarlet Witch taking over Westview, Agatha has been in a trance only to be released by an upstart kid who wants to be a witch. Their past however, forces them to go down the Witches road.
Review
This was an absolutely surprising show. I am not mad at any of the acting and the setting is really good. They do this weird thing where if you really want to pay attention you can tell that it is this technique of a painted background. However, it is painted in a way that it looks far away. Only for it to be a plot point to show some subtlety of the show. Excellent use that really surprised me.
As I told my wife about his last night, I said that the acting was believable, and I am not really mad at anyone. No one was annoying, and for all the folks that are mad about his being "woke" it really isn't. Yes, there is a lot of "gay" talk, but it isn't shoved in your face all the time. Far less than what you see walking through any downtown.
The story is superbly interesting. There are some great emotional beats, coming of age tropes, and stunning revelations for these characters and the Marvel world as a whole. That is something that should be pointed out though. As this is a Marvel show, you'd expect a lot of superpowers and things like that, but it has some magic differently. Its more grounded than anything else you would normally see.
My Rating
The longer this show ran, the more excited I became. I thought it was going to be a lackluster second season to WandaVision. However, it answered questions, expanding a more grounded story that fits the Halloween vibe. If you watch this just to enjoy a witch story, you'll be very happy. If you want something Marvel heavy, do not watch it. If you are like me and want something entertaining, then this is an 8 that you should watch, mainly for how it ends.
Parental Rating
I had to think about this one. This is about a people looking to find peace and family. I know there are a lot of conversations about LQBTQ+ lifestyle and people, but like I said it isn't over the top. It is just a fact of who people are in the show. Because it isn't a priority in the show, I think they can set it aside. The content about witches would rule my dad out. However, my mom doesn't mind it and it fits the rest of her criteria. Rejected by Dad and Approved by Mom.
