The Terminal List

Chris Pratt and Taylor Kitsch do an outstanding job of playing operators and you can see the work they put into learning the tricks. There is a scene in the last or second to last episode where Chris does a great right to left shoulder transition that just shows tons of practice.

Review

This is a slow burner of a show. The first episode is its worst episode and trying to get past it is difficult. However, once you do, you are off to the races with excitement and anticipation.

Chris Pratt and Taylor Kitsch do an outstanding job of playing operators and you can see the work they put into learning the tricks. There is a scene in the last or second to last episode where Chris does a great right to left shoulder transition that just shows tons of practice. You can also see that they got some coaching from true SEALs as you can see Remi Adeleke from Transformed playing a role in a couple of the episodes. Speaking of great acting, Constance Wu playing a journalist with some backbone is that grows with the season is just so nice to see. She wants the truth no matter the Goliath it is against.

Watching this for the second time, my wife almost stopped again after the first episode. It does such a great job of setup for the rest of the season that you just have to get through it. You run into the unreliable narrator issue very heavily and it is done so well. Constantly my wife, who was paying attention trying to follow, was lost and confused at times. Asking "Is that person bad?," "Is this important?" "Wait, I thought the memory said this?" It is so well done.

My Rating

This was such a great show that I am really looking forward to the sequel-prequel. Plus, having never read anything by Jack Carr, I will be reading this series so be on the lookout for that. This is a 9 that the first episode ruins from a 10. It is so important to the story though and it pays off so well, that I am going to give it a 9.5. It is a must watch.

Parental Rating

So I had to think a lot about this for a bit. Extreme language, extreme violence, and extreme blood/gore. My mom based solely on the rules would not approve. My dad would not approve. However, I think my dad would watch this because it is so good. My mom would watch it with the family since there is some* family and love in it. I am going to say APPROVED and REJECTED for both. It is a great show that I think my dad would enjoy overall, but just complain about the language.
