Synopsis

A district attorney is murdered horrifically and another is blamed for the murder.

Review

I wanted to like this show as I really like Jake, but it is just slow. I learned while watch it that it was a remake, and I am not sure if it should have been remade.

The show is good. It tells a good story with suspense, and it is really well written. The acting team is superb. The kids do well with there acting and are super believable. They play a great role and give some additional depth to the story that I think played a big part in me enjoying the show.

The twist and turns are really well done. As a note, if you saw the original show from back in the day, I have been told it does not end the same. With that in mind, I feel there are some lingering questions that were implied about one person who you think is going to be the killer, that never get answered. I also find it really weird that the friend of the wife who is also the wife of the defense lead just trashes him the entire movie without evidence even though they are all friends. She just throws him under every bus and doesn't believe Jake didn't kill the DA the entire show.

My Rating

I mentioned that I like the show, I did. However, the pacing is bad. The original was a MOVIE with Harrison Ford and I think that might have been too short, but the 8 episode season was too long. It should have been a miniseries of 4 episodes or so. There is too much childish jabbing between the lawyers, there is so much redundant information being presented and it just drags by. Because of the slowness a show that could have been an 8, quickly (surprisingly) becomes a 6.

Parental Rating

This show is about dirty aggressive sex and while there is no explicit nudity, they might as well just be wearing pasties. Lots of flashbacks that whip into those scenes and then back out to a murder scene. Blood and bondage from the murder. No one in the show doesn't swear like a sailor. For these reasons, this is rejected by both my parents.
