Lee
Andy Samberg from Brooklyn Nine-Nine playing a serious role and killing it. He is my favorite part of this movie. Kate Winslet does a great job, without a doubt. However, Andy playing something so far from what he is known for and doing it without any issues is a testament to his skills.

Synopsis
Lee Miller, a former model turned photographer, becomes a war correspondent for Vogue magazine during WWII, taking some of the best or worst pictures of the events during that time.
Review
This movie came to my attention after watching Civil War. I didn't realize that she came to notice during WWII, I honestly thought it was more recent than that so, right off the bat this was a surprising movie.
One of the first things I noticed is how good of a cast there was and how well they played their roles. Honestly, you can't talk about this movie without talking about Andy Samberg from Brooklyn Nine-Nine playing a serious role and killing it. He is my favorite part of this movie. Kate Winslet does a great job, without a doubt. However, Andy playing something so far from what he is known for and doing it without any issues is a testament to his skills. I was having dinner this week with co-worker after presenting at a conference, and he made the remark of comedians being better actors than most. Their ability to see timing so well for jokes allows them to see timing in other things, but get typecast to silly roles and it is a shame. This is the perfect example of that. Andy's timing is outstanding.
The story is crazy too and not something I have thought about. The idea that people were going missing to never be seen again just floating through the masses is crazy. The Holocaust was so pressed into my head that I know that about 6 million Jews, gypsies, political dissidents, and people of color were systematically killed and/or imprisoned. The idea that during that time, they didn't know what was going on just floors me. Kate and Andy are so good about playing the roles and reacting to learning this that I just felt it.
My Rating
Oh man. This movie wasn't what I was expecting. It is heavy historical drama that should be on every one's watch list. It is a triumph of acting for a story that is gut-wrenching. The pacing is slow, it is a drama so that can happen, but it is an easy 8 just for the acting alone.
Parental Rating
There is a lot of nudity. Watching this with my in-laws and there is a scene where they French people are just sitting at a picnic blanket topless and my father-in-law just asks "Who sits naked at a group picnic?" There is a lot of language as well, with it mostly being the "F" word. While I think this is an important movie they would watch, based on the rules they are both out. Rejected by both.
