Halloween
I want to know more about the house. I am curious if it was more contingencies that allowed for the final event, or if that was really the plan. They say it is the plan, but it feels weird to force yourself to be a cat-in-the-corner rather than the aggressor on home ground. Granted he never dies
Synopsis
Laurie has been preparing for Michael's return for year. So much so that she has alienated her daughter and granddaughter. However, when Michael returns, that preparation is put to the test.
Review
Now this is a good horror movie. This is exactly how I expect people watching Halloween (1978) felt. This powerful and haunting individual driven to do one thing. The aged mask adds so much character to a person who doesn't say anything. I mean we don't even see his face, but you can feel the menace. One of the questions that I have from early in the movie is about his interaction with the mask. Is there some kind of supernatural connection, or do the other residence understand what that mask represents and that is what makes them go wild.
Jamie Lee Curtis is so good in this. I really like her style in the acting, the way she switched into serious mode when needed and really just her ability to be resolute throughout. What I also enjoyed was watching Judy Greer be this whiney lady early on, but then into this power house near the end. It wasn't what I expected from her or her character as this movie when on. Andi Matichak did a fine job, I just wish she had a larger presence. We get so much of her early on, and then it just fizzles out.

They say it is the plan, but it feels weird to force yourself to be a cat-in-the-corner rather than the aggressor on home ground. Granted this dude never dies so maybe that is what you think you have to do. I still love his Undertaker like sit up. Very well done.
My Rating
I really enjoyed this action-horror. We get a very reminiscent view of the original movie with the babysitter scenes. You have an almost magical movement of Michael in the backyard with the "I did it because I was drunk" kid. And you have some truly outstanding acting by the older cast with the coach from Remember the Titans and the doctor who also should have had more time. I'm pretty sure I know something that was never outright said, but I'd love to have learned more. I am giving this an 8.
Parental Rating
Language and crazy amounts of blood and violence. I mean, Curtis' house is basically just a fortress to kill one guy. What do you want? There are more conversations about drugs and sex than seeing any of them so that is a change from the OG, but this isn't the content that my mom would enjoy. I am curious if my dad would like it though. I am going to say rejected by both mainly because I think the language would get to him.
