Dune Part Two
I know people call this a 10, however it isn't there. Timothy does a great job with one major exception. He monologue in the South. Every time I watch it, I am just dragged out of the movie because it doesn't feel believable as compared to the rest of the movie.

Synopsis

Review
I know people call this a 10, however it isn't there. Timothy does a great job with one major exception. He monologue in the South. Every time I watch it, I am just dragged out of the movie because it doesn't feel believable as compared to the rest of the movie. It feels overly forceful for a people that are ready to kill him.
The rest of the cast is outstanding in their representation of who they are. I'd be willing to bet that they took the time to read the book to understand their characters. Zendaya is almost a carbon copy of Chani from the book with the scenes that were left in. I am very pleased with the authenticity they kept from Dune.
The story is almost beat for beat how it plays out in the second half and so there is no complaint. It is more proof in the pudding that if you have a solid book, you don't make changes to fit the movie, you make the movie fit the book. There is a reason one book made two movies.
The action and CGI are so good. It really is a beautiful blend of practical vs CGI. The scenes where they are attacking the crawlers so so well done. Moving from shade to shade and just hot they attack the enemy is great. What isn't great about the attacks is the final fight. There is a lot of choreography to make things happen, but it feels more like a dance. It just feels too staged.
My Rating
This might be my favorite movie of the year. If you watched Episode 6 - 2024 Awards Show, you'll know that I forgot about this coming out in 2024 to begin with and I wish I had watched this again before the show. I don't think it would have beat Nosferatu for some of my recommendations, but it could have. This is an almost perfect movie, an almost masterpiece. It is a 9 and I can see why people would call it a 10, but it just isn't there for me.
Parental Rating
There is limited to no language, limited to no blood, a assumed sex scene, with some violence. This movie is one that I think my parents would enjoy even with the almost 3 hour runtime. Paul is attempting to save his family and not start a holy war across the galaxy. The "magic" is limited with the language so it isn't hard to understand. The politics are easy to understand and overall, it is a solid movie. Approved by both.
