Synopsis

Review

You want to watch an awesome spy movie that happens to be in the Marvel Universe? This is it. This is basically one of the best spy thrillers you'll watch, I would argue on par with most of the Mission Impossible Series.

I find Anthony Mackie to be really hit or miss most of the time. This is his best role. The writing for him is outstanding with his commentary on Veterans, his loyalty to righteousness, and overall, being a good friend. I think him and Chris have great "Warrior" chemistry. Throw in the quick jabs, both literally and figuratively, of Scarlett Johansson and you get some great lines together.

The action is also outstanding. The scene where The Winter Soldier catches the shield is crazy. When I first watched in theaters, I remember the audible gasp and just being "Oh shit." Between that and the scenes of attempting to stop the Helicarriers is just very well done.

My Rating

You can't not enjoy this movie. It is probably one of the movies that everyone compares the rest of the MCU to. This peak of the series and just a genuinely enjoyable movie. The CGI is very limited and doesn't distract, the action is good, the acting is good. This is just "on your left" of a perfect movie. It is a 9.

Parental Rating

No language, to the point that it makes a joke in Avengers Age of Ultron. There is no sex, and good action without a lot of blood. I really don't think that there is anything for either of my parents to complain about. It isn't something my mom would watch on her own and based on the rules, she isn't about it, but my dad would enjoy this. So rejected by Mom and approved by Dad.
