The Rip

Synopsis

After the death of the Team Captain, a group of Miami detectives work to recover cartel money, leading to mistrust and another outside group is working to take that some money.

Review

This movie wasn't what I expected. There are some intentional cuts to hide information that feel like bad editing and then later it is to show you new information. It just feels like a more lazy story telling. Like they had to change the story halfway through and made cuts in the original story line, and then they changed it.

The action was in these pops that never continued and were had a lot of setup. For instance, there is an old station wagon in one of the garages, and they move it to block the garage, then that saves their lives. These intentional setups make sense for the story, but feel absolutely forced.

The story is interesting. A more series Bad Boys movie. There are for sure some parts that make so much sense in the real world. Ben and Matt obviously do well, but I was really hoping their story would have been a bit different from every other movie they are in together. I know they are friends, but I want to see a fight. They are just too peachy.

My Rating

This is an action movie. It is a pure action movie. The story is pretty light and one dimensional. It isn't bad, but just isn't great. I was entertained, but the first half of the movie is a drag. I am giving this a 7.

Parental Rating

"That's gonna be a no for me dawg" would be what both of my parents would say if they spoke in memes. Lots of language and violence. No sex, but some sexually referenced conversations. Rejected by both.
