The Marsh King's Daughter
The settings are super simple, but are used to the maximum, and you get to have some sense how deep the marshes are in Michigan and to be honest I don't think "Marsh" in Michigan. That is a Florida thing, you know?
Synopsis
After being returned to normal society, a woman seeks to hide her history of being the daughter of a famous kidnapper and murderer. However, her father escaped prison and she works to protect her own family.
Review
What an underrated film. Between Daisy Ridley and Ben Mendelsohn playing outstanding roles, this is a great story. However, the story isn't what keeps you, it is that this movie is a constant reminder that our memories are not always what we remember.

There are some really good emotional moments in this movie and the one that sticks out a couple of days after watching it is when Daisy talks to her husband about her tattoos. Then the next scene she is told one of her tattoos doesn't mean what she was told and that goes back to this idea of our memories being fallible and so is the trust we place in others.
My Rating
I was expecting this to be a slow movie and it was. However, even with it being slow, it tells a great story at a good pace. If you pay attention, you never feel any single scene takes too long, just that the movie is slow. I enjoyed the acting even from the kids and the only thing that really is frustrating is the reaction of the husband, but that is because I think her hiding her identity is smart. Overall, I enjoyed this movie while on a plane and would give it an 8.
Parental Rating
This movie is all about what we do for family. Basically Jamie Lannister's line from Game of Thrones (TV and Books) , but not to that extreme. Ok well, maybe it is the that extreme. However, the language is light, the violence is there with limited gore. I know my mom would enjoy this and my dad would for sure watch it at least once. Approved by both.
