Taking Chance

This movie is only like an hour long because it was an HBO special feature at the beginning of draw down from Afghanistan. Kevin Bacon is outstanding in this and does a great job and honestly is the only real character.

Synopsis

For a while, military members were dying left and right. When this happens, they must be escorted home. Follow the story of a Lt. Col. who feels out of the fight who volunteers to escort of Marine home.

Review

This is the end of Memorial Month for me and this is a good one to finish on. I honestly haven't watched this one in years and that is because I didn't realize it was based on a true story. Also, it isn't the most entertaining.

Where this movie doesn't do as well is just the extras. Some of them are just awkward to the point that you get pulled out of the events than it does add to the story.

My Rating

Memorial Day this year was difficult for a lot of my friends and me. A couple lost friends, some lost brothers, but we all lost a defender. In 2018, Chief of Staff talks about the process during a Memorial Day press conference that you can watch here till the 5-minute mark. This movie is important to watch, especially after the world seems to have forgotten that the battle isn't over for some. This movie is a 7 for movies’ sake, but might be one of the most significant movies to watch.

Parental Rating

No language, no sex, no violence on screen. This is a movie with heart and character. Based on the rules, both my parents will watch. However, my mom will have no interest to watch this as it will hit to close to home for what could have been. My dad would watch it once. So approved by both overall.

Last Breath

The setting is so good. There is also so much cool technology and learning that you get just through osmosis. I mean, a 4-day decompression is absolutely crazy. I know that you need 2 10-minute hold sessions when you dive at 100 feet, but 4 days? Not only that, but I really want to see the math

Atonement

This book is written much like Lord of the Flies, the Great Gatsby, and To Kill a Mockingbird, without the finality of story that you get from those books. There is a ton that is supported and lifted, but there is no finality that makes this worth while to read a second time.

Star Wars: Rogue One

When this movie first came out, I thought it was good, but not needed. Today, 9 years later, I feel the same way. However, the movie has aged very well, and I think it is better than the 6 or 7 that I would have given it years ago.

Ted Lasso

Jason Sudeikis and Hannah Waddingham are absolutely fantastic. Honestly, I think every single person really does an incredible job of growing into their roles. Between seasons there is some amazing character growth and I wish more shows and movies put this much effort into it.
