Review
James McAvoy should have won EVERY award for this movie. His ability to switch physically as well as his voice between each character is amazing. It is because of this, that he should be your favorite actor for the rest of eternity.
Anya Taylor-Joy is also outstanding. She plays a SMART horror film character and is a refreshing change to most horror movies. I really think this is more thriller than horror to be fair.
The story is really well told with a nice trickle of exposure to the expanding story. This is truly a M. Night. Shyamalan triumph. I know people hate his movies, but I grew up with them and vividly remember watching Signs with my friends when it came out and it was probably one of my first horror films and it scared the living crap out of me. This movie feels like that to me.
My Rating
I love this movie. The acting is some of the best you will ever see. It needs to be watched as soon as you can. It is an 8 that should be a 9, but it does get a little slow at times and the scares are limited other than weirding you out. My wife did find it scary hiding under her blanket at times so that adds some love.
Parental Rating
Some adult content for sure, but language is limited as is the actual violence. I think both my parents would watch this.
