Spider-Man: Homecoming

Synopsis

After supporting Tony Stark in Captain America Civil War, Peter heads back home and struggles to be a normal Spider-Man as well as balancing school and the "Internship." So when 'The Vulture' start welling alien weapons from The attack in New York during The Avengers, Spider-Man has to step up while everyone tells him to avoid it.

Review

When Spider-Man showed up in Civil War, it was amazing. Then to have his own movie makes it just a great cherry on top. It is a movie that just keeps on giving. The action and slapstick comedy works so well with the Friendly vibe. I must applaud Tom Holland for the shape they got in, and his American accent. His chemistry with MJ and Ned is so good. I mean it makes sense he and Zendaya are in a great relationship.

I think the interactions with RDJ are also excellent. He is written really well to swing in, pun intended, both in-person and remotely without taking away from the movie. He feels like a secondary character which is hard to do with the popularity he had. Speaking of popularity, Michael Keaton is very good. His bring a believability to his character that I am not sure others could bring to his character.

The story is great. This really is story of doing the right thing even when the odds are against you. A story of perseverance. There are times when he is cocky and that leads to his attempt to stop crime going sideways. He eventually learns and does the right thing even thought it might cost him. Also, there is a level of honor from Toomes as he is doing what he is doing based on being a victim himself and when push came to shove, he didn't dime out who Spider-Man is which is a plot point in the next one and the one after that.

My Rating

How can you not like this movie? It is sweet, funny, honest, and very well told. It really does have everything you want from a movie and is smack-dab in the middle of prime MCU making it need to hold its weight against the others, and it does. I think some of the minor villains are the weakest points as they are just there and not really adding anything, but everyone else is so good. I for sure can't really complain. I am giving this an 8.

Parental Rating

You know, this is about family. It is about doing the right thing. There is almost no language, and no sex. So I think this is one of the rare MCU movies where both of them would have no objections and the content is enjoyable for them. Approved by both.
