Synopsis

The immortal wants to live a life of peace and hunt gold in the Finland plains. After finding a good haul, he runs across a Nazi patrol who wants the gold knowing they won't survive the post war world.

Review

This movie is crazy. I knew the John Wick folks were involved, but they did not leave anything on the table. The story is simple telling only what needs to be told and nothing else. Legitimately, in the entire movie there is probably 200–300 words spoken. With most of them being taken up by 2 different parts about whom the Fin is. Our main says 10 words.

The team that was there was either middling or pretty good. Jorma Tommila does a fantastic job playing the mysterious Fin. However, there really wasn't anything to write home about the acting itself. The main bad guy was ok, but I never felt like he was scared or angry or had any real emotion. On the flip side, Jorma did. Like I said pretty good or middling to bad.

The practical effects were outstanding. No real CGI on this, probably some, but nothing that screams green screen or the Disney circle thing.

My Rating

Overall, I was highly entertained with this movie. The story is simple, one dimensional, and VERY predictable. It isn't anything that will win awards, and it doesn't need to. It is an 8, but I'd hold off on watching either with surround sound or on an airplane.

Parental Rating

There is a little bit of nudity, gratuitous violence, "Glorious Carnage," and language that really isn't needed, but is throughout. There really isn't any family or non-violence specific morality that would make my mom want to watch this. Just too much gore. My dad though would enjoy it. While there is some language, with less than 500 words spoken, the language stands out, but isn't consistent. Mom rejects, Dad approves.
