Sinners
To me, this movie to be more about the music and because of how it is presented. The music makes you want to listen to the blues and just feel the rhythm in your body as it plays out. To "Stomp yo feet". They way they show the magic and evolution of music is almost worth the watch by itself.

Synopsis
Twins, Smoke and Stack, return home to the Mississippi Delta to start a new life outside the organized crime life they were a part of in the 1930s Chicago. However, something more sinister has also moved into the area.
Review
This movie is basically two movies in one. The first 2/3rds are almost a period piece framed around music. The last third is this weird hippy vampire portion.
I have been critical of Michael B. Jordan's characters in Creed III, Without Remorse, and while I haven't written it yet, Black Panther. This movie is a massive departure and is hands down his best movie. His presentation of not one, but two different characters, is outstanding. I have no issues, complaints, or frustrations with him at all. He is just the standout character and actor in this movie and I want to make sure that I applaud him when he does well and this is his magnum opus. I can't talk about this movie without talking about Delroy Lindo. He is sooo good. I am not even sure what else to say beyond that. I really enjoyed his character. Likewise, I think Hailee Steinfeld does a great job in her character, I just don't like her character.
To me, this movie to be more about the music and because of how it is presented. The music makes you want to listen to the blues and just feel the rhythm in your body as it plays out. To "Stomp yo feet". They way they show the magic and evolution of music is almost worth the watch by itself.
Where this movie fails is the vampire aspect. It shows up way to late and is shrouded in darkness so you miss 90% of the makeup/character design. In general there isn't a lot of background about why this Irish Vampire is hunting people and growing his coven. It just felt like an afterthought.
My Rating
There are some excellent scenes in this movie. One of them being at the end of the movie, and it is such a good shot that wish the movie was more about anti-KKK actions. The vampire section/aspect is a throwaway that did more damage to the movie than added anything to it. Without the Vampire aspect, this would be a 10 which is crazy. Actually I can't say that, because it needs something else in the movie to fill that so who knows. However, it is still an 8 and still outstanding.
Parental Rating
Between language, lewd sexual conversation and acts, and blood/violence means that not only will neither of my parents watch this, but they wouldn't even entertain it. There is a LOT of language, and it does take some time getting used to it. The sexuality is intense at times, especially if you are watching this on a plane. Not a lot of direct nudity though so a plus? And it is a vampire movie, there is going to be blood. Rejected by both.
