Silo

I thought the show was incredible, with a gripping mystery, rich character arcs, and a fantastic cast. Rebecca Ferguson was outstanding, and Steve Zahn delivered an underappreciated, award-worthy performance. My wife and I were completely invested, and it was well worth the time.

Synopsis

Years in the future, people live in a Silo. No one knows why, no one knows when it started, and all they know is that if they go outside, they die. However, the something is happening and people are wanting to go outside, a request that will ultimately kill them.

Review

What an incredible show. I know Rebecca Ferguson can be polarizing, but in this show her character is and she is outstanding. In fact most of the cast is outstanding. I don't think there is a single person who is off on this. From a character arc perspective, every single person has a great push, pull, and a series of conflicts. Each person has a set of predilections that are tested from season to season.

The story is so good. To be honest, this is one of the better mystery stories I have watched in a long time. Early in the first season, there is a scene that is clearly CGI. However, as a viewer, you wonder if the CGI is out of a cost perspective. I wondered while watching if it was the same scene or something that might be intentional. That is the kind of mystery to have in a show.

I want to make a specific call out to Steve Zahn. His acting has solo is amazing. The way he plays a kid who has never had adult supervision, lived alone, and just grew up alone. His performance I feel like was completely ignored. I don't remember hearing anything about it. However, I should have. Award-winning without a doubt.

I can't believe it took me so long to watch this. It was incredible. This story is also so well told that it makes me very interested in reading the book. It is outstanding. I cannot express how invested my wife and I were to this show. It is worth every minute, and you'll want to watch the first two seasons before the 3rd one comes out. This is a 9.

Parental Rating

There is a decent amount of language, but there is no sex or graphic violence. There is some violence, but it is pretty tame. I actually think both of my parents would enjoy this. It can be a bit slow, but the story is so good I think they will be interested in it. While the language will annoy my dad, I think he would get over it for this. There is a huge bit of family love and sacrifice. I am going to say approved by both.
