Synopsis

After the loss of his wife and attempting to get back to reality after escaping in booze, drugs, and women, a Therapist starts telling his patients, friends, and family exactly what he thinks, leading to some unexpected results.

Review

What a show. Let me start by saying something slightly controversial. I have never been a big fan of Harrison Ford as I think he is overrated. However, this show puts him where he belongs for everyone else. He was funny, he was emotional, and he was believable. This honestly goes for the rest of the cast as well. Jason Segel is exemplarily in his performance and while I enjoyed him in How I Met Your Mother, this makes that look like he had just shown up to Hollywood. He is outstanding. Also, I had never heard of Lukita Maxwell, but she was fantastic. He relationship with Harrison is so wholesome.

The story works so well also. It feels so very real, and you can feel the interwoven problems that would naturally exist during an event like this. People pull away or feel awkward, the widowed don't know how they are making other feel and vice versa. The story forces this idea of communicating with those around you rather than holding it in and making it harder to deal with in the long run.

My Rating

I don't think I have ever laughed so hard at a show, or wanted to cry so much. As I said, the talent and presentation of the cast was phenomenal, and I cannot wait till the next season starts. This was a perfect show. This is an easy 10.

Parental Rating

There is an abundant amount of strong and sexual language. My dad wouldn't make it past the first show, maybe not the opening scene. My mom would be… concerned about the language for sure, however, if she could make it through it, I think she would really enjoy the show. It is very much about rebuilding a family and friends after a devastating loss. While there are conversations about sexual activities, it isn't shown so it should be ok in that regard. I am going to say rejected by both, but I will ask my parents to watch it. If my mom would watch it, I think my mom would approve.
