Ep 8 - Avengers Disassembled? Our Honest Take of Marvel's Phase 5
With the end of phase 5 coming in the next couple of months we wanted to talk about it. We wanted to make a tiered list of the movies that have come out that we either have hated or loved. Maybe "loved" is too strong of a word, enjoyed is for sure better.

Mass Effect
The characters are really well written. The benefits of single player games that told stories rather than attempted to make money. I already talked about Ashley's racist ass. There is also Garrus who is a companion in the next game and might be my favorite character.

DareDevil (Netflix)
I have enjoyed this show. It's gritty and entertaining, but at times super slow. Season 1 was great with a solid single story line. A blind dudes back story about how he became a boss. Simple and clean. A setup for the main villain that most people know from previous movies or the comics.

The Old Man
What a sleeper of a show. I remember it coming out, but never heard anything about it. When my wife and I were looking for a new show, we saw the main cast and thought it would be good. We were dead on. Jeff Bridges and John Lithgow are outstanding in their roles.

Paradise-1
The characters are alright. The main character, Petrova, is my least favorite. Dr. Zhang and Rapscallion (The ships AI Robot) are probably my favorite. They have a sense of straightforwardness that in life I appreciate. He also has a nice comedic element that is pretty typical these days for robots

Dead Poets Society
Let us start with how outstanding Robin Williams was. I am so sad that he isn't around speaking that he made such an impact on so many people in my generation. I still think about Flubber from time to time, Bicentennial Man, Hook, and his stand-up specials. He does so well as does Robert Leonard

Vikings
Most of the middle episodes are beyond fluff. They serve no purpose other than maybe to have a little fight. Typically, what happens in episode 4 through 6 is overwritten later. If you took out episode 1-2, 10, and 19-20, you might have another 3 episodes worth of content

Lee
Andy Samberg from Brooklyn Nine-Nine playing a serious role and killing it. He is my favorite part of this movie. Kate Winslet does a great job, without a doubt. However, Andy playing something so far from what he is known for and doing it without any issues is a testament to his skills.

Whiplash
Dear sweet baby Jesus, there is a lot of crude language. This isn't "College" language, this is just an overabundance vile and targeted insults that just makes anyone who isn't ready pause the movie. I have heard similar and still said "Well ok then."

Proof
While this book does use scientific terms such as the scientific name of different yeast and fungus, the stories used to wrap those hard to understand words are written so well that you don't feel like you are missing anything.

American Assassin
The story is pretty good. Some of the "prep" scenes are questionable and make Rapp out to be a terrible human being rather than a cool guy. I especially have an issue with the range scene. That type of activity is very much frown upon by EVERYONE.
