Synopsis

In a fit of hope, a young man test fate but using a "One Wish Willow" to have his crush love him like he does. However, that wish is not granted in the way he expected and turns sour very quickly.

Review

I completely understand the level of creepiness that people are feeling after watching this movie. There is this sense of watching a train wreck that you just can't look away from. The overall story is so well told, and I think it is a part of something that everyone has felt once upon a time. Feelings not being reciprocated is for sure something that every human has felt.

I do think there is a subtle understory about what the movie is actually about. While it does depict a woman making life weird for all around, it started with a dude who was trying to do the same thing. I mean he legitimately made an objectively creepy wish, and it is his obsession that ultimately damages the lives of those around him. There are times when he could have done/could have seen that something was right, but chose not to for his own selfish reasons. His friend calls him out on it multiple times.

I think the acting by Inde Navarrette is the best thing about this movie. There are a couple scenes where her facial expressions and emotions flip on a dime, and she does it so well. It was incredible to watch. Her performance alone is worth the watch.

Side note, this movie is listed as a "Romance" movie. Please do not take your date to this.

My Rating

This movie was a wild ride. The horror aspect is mainly this sense of dread. There is one scene that you know is coming, but the cut is so well done and the instant amount of violence is… just… whew. The special effects team and how they did that for all involved is so well done. I liked this movie. A lot like X or Pearl there is a lot of gore/weirdness for that sake, but in this movie, that sake has a purpose. As a person who has been in a relationship much like this, obviously not to this extent, but very co-dependent, it feels in the realm of reality which I think adds a layer the heebie-jeebies. This is easily an 8 of a movie.

Parental Rating

Nope. Not today, not tomorrow, not ever. There are sex scenes, lots of language, an immense amount of violence, and some scenes with drugs. This might be the easiest "Rejected by both" I will ever give outside a 70s style slasher movie. Rejected by both.
