Mission: Impossible Movie Series
As the series has moved forward, it moved forward in the best direction. The average, IMDB score is 7.2 for the whole series, with the worst two being 7.2 for the first one and 6.8 for the second. From there is a 7.4 and above. This series has done something for me that I feel like a lot of...

Synopsis of the Mission Impossible Movie Series

I think the acting is very 90s. I know it came out then, but it doesn't hold up. Ving, Tom, and Jon are excellent. The rest… not so much. Honestly, I think Jean is just overly predictable in his role, but we might want to blame the writers on that.
Mission Impossible II ← Review Here

I really don't like the acting. Tom is fine, Laurence Fishburne is fine, and then it goes downhill with Thandiwe Newton, the love interest, and Dougray Scott. The whole love interest side plot honestly was harder to fathom than the creation of the world's most deadly flu in order to create a cure.
Mission Impossible III ← Review Here

We are back on track with a good spy thriller. There is conflict, surprise, and superb action. The most memorable scene is where Ethan is escorting a prisoner over a long bridge, and it is attacked. While some actions for sure are there to be over the top, but make it entertaining.
Mission Impossible Ghost Protocol ← Review Here

The action, the setting, and the story are so good. It also is probably one of the better tie-end and continuation of a movie directly after that isn't a true part 2. Let's start with the action. The fighting makes sense. There isn't anything that feels out of place.
Mission Impossible - Rogue Nation ← Review Here

This is the first movie that we get Ilsa Foust. This is such a great balance to Ethan. Better than any of the other women that we have had. The caveat to that is his wife, who was a counterpoint to him. Brought him peace. Ilsa is Ethan, a spy with dedication and a conscience.
Mission Impossible - Fallout ← Review Here

The story for this is my favorite in the series. What I think that this movie does better than most if not all the others is the weaving pattern within the individual movie. This turn and that. Move and counter move. It feels organic and impulsive to the characters.
Mission Impossible - Dead Reckoning ← Review Here

As this is one of the last movies in the Tom Cruise is Ethan Hunt Mission Impossible world, they did not hold back. There is a great cast of people and they play very well together. The action and stuns are awesome. To think that Tom Cruise actually did the motorcycle jump is outstanding. I highly recommend you watch this 9-minute video about that one stunt.
Mission Impossible - The Final Reckoning ← Review Here

I hope that Tom Cruise as Ethan is done, at least as the primary character. At this point I am cool with them rebooting it or doing a new generation. If they were to reboot, I am not sure who would replace them that would be able to insist on the realism that we have gotten for the last 20 years.
My Rating
I think it is safe to say that I have thoroughly enjoyed this series. When I was younger, I didn't appreciate Mission Impossible for the spy thriller it was at the time and loved the flips in Mission Impossible II. As an adult, I can see how DUMB the flips are especially when they are ever fight scene and how good the spy thriller is. As the series has moved forward, it moved forward in the best direction. The average, IMDB score is 7.2 for the whole series, with the worst two being 7.2 for the first one and 6.8 for the second. From there is a 7.4 and above. This series has done something for me that I feel like a lot of action movies, with the notable exception of the John Wick Series, has failed to do for years. Bring realism to the theater. Tom Cruise has done the stunts, the fighting, and the running. It feels real and that is what bring me the most entertainment. It is just fun to watch. My average score is an 8, and I think that is a fair score for the entire series.
Parental Rating
I have waffled over the course of these reviews on whether my dad would watch them, probably my mom as well. Ok, I just looked at the entire series of posters I stamped, and they are all the same. However, I know that in my mind, rating this for my dad was always difficult. As he has gotten older, language bothers him more now than it did, which is ironic speaking that all of his children swear in front of him. I think my mom does too haha. I also know he REALLY doesn't like Tom Cruise. So I am glad that I was able to be faithful to the rules that I created for him when making these ratings. In general, they fit what he likes. Spy thrillers with limited language and good action. I think if these were on and my brothers or the grandkids were watching, my mom would watch them if asked. However, I do not think she would approve or overly enjoy them. So approved by dad and rejected by mom, based on the rules.
