Mean Girls
This is a millennial classic. I mean October 3rd is Mean Girls day. Some how I have watched this multiple times in the last couple years and because I have watched it so often I could have sworn I've written a review. But I didn't.
Synopsis
A class 2000s movie about a girl who moves to a new school area and tries to find her place within the multiple cliques especially the Plastics, which are so fetch.

So this is pre-lost-her-way-Lohan. She is still the kid from Freaky Friday and The Parent Trap. She does a great job of playing this character who is witty and smart, but relatively normal. Until social pressures come in and that is what we expect from teenagers and movies like this. We also see the rise of Rachel McAdams, Amanda Seyfried, and for me, Amy Poehler who I have only ever seen in Parks and Recreation. However, they all have solid quotable lines that make for a quick joke today.
My biggest issue with this that I have always felt was dumb is the scenes where the kids act like animals and whatnot. The only good thing that came out of that was the tackle into the water fountain. Because it was a good tackle. Outside of that, it is dumb, and while I understand why, I just think it doesn't do well.
My Rating
This is a feel good movie. Something we wish that we could see in today's high schools. I guess at least it isn't as bad as Carrie - 1976. However, I remember it being pretty close to this when I was in high school and I think most people can. So for a movie to take all of that fear and frustration and make a comedy about it working, this is no harm in that when the cast is well done and there isn't a musical attached. I'm giving this an 8 for a good cast and nostalgia.
Parental Rating
No real language, it is PG-13 so there is some, but most of it is raunchy conversation rather than actual curse words. There is no scenes that show sexual activity, but it is talked about a lot. I think my Mom would appreciate this movie and the message enough that she would watch it with a grandkid. Rejected by Dad and approved by Mom.
