Mayor of Kingstown

This is a very slow open show. It does take at least 2 episodes to really be interested and what keeps you involved is just the premise of the show and Renner. This feeling is the same for each season. The episodes are slow in general, but the first couple for each season as just REALLY slow.

Mayor of Kingstown

Synopsis

Jeremy Renner plays the defacto Mayor for a prison town working to keep the peace between the cops and the gangs in town to protect the innocent as well as just to make sure loved ones don't die.

Review

This review covers season 1-2 and the show is on pause as Renner heals from being run over by a snow plow. I also don't expect the show to change much in the future.

While moving this from the old site to the new site, Season 3 came out and that review has been added.

This is a very slow open show. It does take at least 2 episodes to really be interested and what keeps you involved is just the premise of the show and Renner. This feeling is the same for each season. The episodes are slow in general, but the first couple for each season as just REALLY slow.

Like I said, the premise for this show is interesting, and the writing is well done. I really enjoyed the characters and the actions they take. Renner really is in an up hill battle on this show and the stress and frustration really bleeds through to you as you watch. This depth though does remove this from a bingeworthy show in my opinion.

The acting is superb and completely believable. There aren't any characters that act counter to their presented personality or presentation. I am really impressed with that fact because it isn't something you see from a show like this most of the time.

Season 3

I like Jeremy Renner, but this show just drags on. He is the best part of this. The major lesson in this season is that we are the monsters we create, and that is a dope lesson to see play out. I am begging this show to finish, as I am only halfway interested.

My Rating

This show is slow. So slow that it took me a while to finish it, but the ending of each season is excellent and that is what keeps you hooked. However, the hook is what gives it a 7 not a 5 as the pacing of the episodes really does need some work.

After season 3, the pacing still sucks, the acting is still excellent, and the story is still interesting. The pacing is just god awful.

Parental Rating

Oh hell no. There is a lot of language, drugs, violence, sex, and down right criminal activity that they would not understand or care about. Why Renner's character does do a lot of his actions to protect his family, this is not a family show and the moral of the story is very small, so there is no redemptive value for them. Rejected by both.
