Lone Survivor

This is a great story. Not for the actions of those involved, but for one simple line: "You are never out of the fight!" That is the prevailing lesson and process in this movie. Press on. It is honestly a good life lesson to hold on to.

Review

This is one of those movies that are part of the Memorial Day movies. I've watched every year since I started doing that and to be honest, I was so surprised when I watched it this week and realized I had no review for it.

That isn't why you read these things so let us talk about the movie itself. If we focus on the acting, the only actor that I feel just doesn't work is the guy who plays Axe, who was also in The Mechanic. I just don't like him as an actor. Like Michael B. Jordan Creed, I just feel he is whiney. He does a great job in the role though, and I think that is the same thought about everyone else. They are stupendous in this role.

I heard years ago that this movie was WAY over budget because Marcus Luttrell, who plays bit parts in the movie and helped as a technical director, made them redo the mountain scene multiple times. Explosions weren't right, where the enemy was as compared to the team wasn't right. Stuff like that. If that is the case, good on him and the team for doing it right and pulling in the viewer as there is a lot of good action in this movie.

My Rating

This is a good movie that is very entertaining. It does get muddled in the fight scenes because it feels like a lot of the same, and you have no real concept of how big the mountain is, but it is very fun to watch. The cast does very well in their roles and I appreciate the dedication to do things right. This is an 8.

Parental Rating

Extreme violence. Extreme language. No sex. So they are in? No, not at all. I know my dad has seen this movie and enjoyed it, but the amount of language is more than most movies even when you compare it to 13 Hours and Fury. For that my dad is out. My mom was out in the opening scene when the guy gets beheaded off scene. Rejected by both.
