I can't tell you how much I detest the ex-wife. She is annoying, manipulative, whiney, and downright atrocious that her scenes are almost unbearable. She is also a terrible influence on her daughter. That aside, that really is my chief complaint about the story.

Synopsis
In the heat of Texas, fixer and Dad must figure out how to deal with aggressive cartels, disasters, and a very frustrating ex-wife that he loves all while trying to keep a oil company on the rails.
Review
This show is outstanding. There isn't a person owes acting is below par. There are people I don't like, but that is a testament to their acting. I've seen the ex-wife in shows like Heroes, and she wasn't like this, but good gracious does she turn it up and push your buttons while watching. Billy Bob Thornton also is spectacular and while I was talking about this show with my co-hosts during Episode 11 - The Last Of Us, he actually was in a lot and is always good. Such are Armageddon. Forgot he was in there.
The storytelling is absolutely fantastic. There are so many layers to how things happen that it really is so interesting. For instance, I was convinced the cartel was going to do something different in their retribution, but it played out with other ways and that is always nice. The action isn't just there for the sake of action. It all plays into the story. Action and reaction. The initial scene is a plane landing on a street and getting hit by a semi.
What does bother me is some of the editing. Specifically, each episode is about a 1-minute recap plus another 30 seconds or so of just scenes of Midland(?) or Houston and showing things in the oil industry like everyone should have knowledge of what is going on. I have no clue and they don't really explain it. We either skip that entirely or guess what is going on. Mostly skip.
My Rating
I can't tell you how much I detest the ex-wife. She is annoying, manipulative, whiney, and downright atrocious that her scenes are almost unbearable. She is also a terrible influence on her daughter. That aside, that really is my chief complaint about the story. The cast is outstanding, the story is compelling, and the glimpses of action are downright fun and important to building the story. This is a 9.
Parental Rating
With an overwhelming amount of language, sex, and violence, they would never get close to this. My brother tried to get them to watch it and never made it past the first half of the first episode. Rejected by both.
