Review

Where to start. The story is nutty. Trying to figure out what direction this movie goes is something that requires you to pay attention and is the movie's biggest weakness. There are so many tiny details that are not explained but play a large part in the story. You are not really sure if it is a cult movie or mental health movie until the end.

The casts do a great job during this movie. Alex Wolff, who has basically been a horror movie star, is crazy believable as being out of control. Toni Collette though is what steals the show. She is manic and pulsing with this frantic madness that you just can't keep track of.

The pace of the movie is a slow and crawls by, but you are dragged with it by these pulses of craziness. You are left in a state of "What the hell?" that makes you just raise your eyebrows and continue to lean in.

My Rating

What a crazy movie. I know that I am late to the game in watching this for the first time speaking that it was released in 2018. With great mystery, some shocking scenes, what hurts this the most is the confusing ending that requires complete attention to understand. This is a 7.

Parental Rating

Some very violent scenes, language, drugs, and mental health issues will make this a hard movie to watch for some people, especially my parents. The content is already something that my parents would touch, possession and cults, but the violence is brutal for brutal sake and the language is just too much. Rejected by both. Oh yeah, lots of old people nudity.
