Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (Movie)
This movie is really underrated, but at the same time I understand why people are not a big fan of this. We see these teenagers grow up and with that, some very questionable hair choices. I know this because this came out when I was high school and everyone was growing their hair out to match ...

Review
This movie is really underrated, but at the same time I understand why people are not a big fan of this. We see these teenagers grow up and with that, some very questionable hair choices. I know this because this came out when I was high school and everyone was growing their hair out to match, and it's ugly to look at.
The story is really good. We finally get the big bad for the rest of the series showing up and the pacing for this sets the stage for the emotional trauma the characters are about to experience.
We do see quite a bit of difference between this movie and the book it is based on. However, with the book being 700+ pages if I remember correctly, there was going to be some cuts to make the 2.5-hour movie. Some of them are no big deal, others I think needed to be there. Specifically there is a scene in the movie where Neville gives him the gillyweed, but in the book it is Dobby. Knowing how important he is later, this would have been a nice reminder of the love Dobby has for Harry.
The CGI isn't terrible, actually I can think of a couple scenes, specifically Krum that just look out of place. Other than those, for the most part I didn't notice anything that stood out as woefully wrong.
My Rating
This is probably my favorite of the early portion of the series. I know it isn't the best, but I enjoy it. It is very entertaining and really shows how dark the world is becoming and was when Voldemort was basically ruling the world. Because of the entertainment and growth of the series in this movie, I'm going to give it an 8.
Parental Rating
So, as an aside, I watch this in IMAX with my oldest brother when it came out and looking back, I never recognized how dark the movie was. When he mentioned it while we were driving home I thought he was talking about the brightness. I was dumb, and this is one of my favorite memories. Even with how dark this movie is, and the introduction of a couple curse words (damn and ass), there is nothing objectionable about this movie for my parents. With the introduction of some more adult themes, while my dad wouldn't choose to watch this on his own, he would watch it and wouldn't be mad. Based on the rules, approved by both.
