Ok, let's talk about this show. This is at the end of the second season any I will tell you that I am really enjoying it. The action that continues to escalate throughout the season adds layer and layer of badassery with each episode. What I mean by that is that while you have great fight scenes in the early episodes, the final couple episodes have such awesome gun and close-quarter-battle fights, that you want to finish the season.

There are for sure some changes between the books/games and this show, but it isn't major changes to tell the story. I am sure that in the books there are some big things that are left out or whatever, but having played through the games which is where this all started, the changes to the story are minimal and add some depth to the character. The exception to that is the side story lines of Halsey and her family. I think there are a couple changes there and the introduction to the flood that are major departures. However, the introduction to the Flood as well as the acting with that is OUTSTANDING!!! My favorite part of this season. It brings the fear back that I had when I played against them the first time in 2001. Also, they use my favorite zombie acting style ever. The World War Z zombie type. Outstanding, jerky, and aggressive. Perfect.

The acting overall is pretty good. I think there are a couple that just aren't the greatest, but they were ok overall. Pablo is what keeps this show together. I honestly hate Charlie Murphy, "Makee", in this show as she is a single thread that doesn't change the look on her face or the tone in her voice. A whine that will continue for 2 seasons.

My Rating

As I said earlier, I am enjoying this show. The fighting is good, the story is good, and it is doing the right things to changes in the story to bring it to a larger audience. Also, people are hating on this show because he takes off his helmet, are you high?? The games did that because it reduced the need to CGI more faces. Then after that it was a whole story plot for the game audience to be able to put their face as John 117, Master Chief. As for a TV show, come on. The fight scenes are great, the story is full, and the number of filler episodes is relatively low. What hurts this show is the acting. It is so hit or miss from the supporting players that Pablo is walking with a hunch from the lift he is doing. It is an 8.

NOTE: This show has now been cancelled and that makes me sad. It was telling a good story. Not the story the Halo faithful wanted, but a good story for the uninitiated.

Parental Rating

I am not sure how I would rate this for them. The sci-fi aspect might stop my dad, but the aliens are well-designed, the fights are good, and there is limited language. There is no family aspect to it, but it is all about growth and love for your team. I am going to say approved by Dad, but rejected by Mom.
