Fountain of Youth

Synopsis

If Jim from The Office became a archeologist like Nick Cage in National Treasure]]. Searching for the Fountain of Youth, with family and law enforcement are attempting to stop him. However, there appears to be more to the Fountain than initially was expected.

Review

This movie was... interesting for sure. There was a lot of witty comments and some entertaining banter between John and Natalie. They make for a great brother/sister combo. Actually most of the acting was pretty good. Characters fall into line exactly as described by each person. For instance, John's character is the obvious American when he is watching his nephew at a piano recital. Just cheering loudly at the end rather than just politely clapping.

The story itself was pretty good. I like the idea of the monkey paw for the Fountain as honestly most of those old special treasures were lost for a reason, supposedly. There is some obvious plot twist that happen and the girl that is chasing them is basically a repeat of The Mummy, which was amazing and should never have been copied.

The action is really where I have an issue. These trained soldier are constantly missing shots, have no real tactical knowledge and get flanked by some noobs. Its more for entertainment than actual story telling which is why it is ok. There is nothing crazy wrong with it, just a frustration.

My Rating

I think think that is my main issue is just you feel frustrated with this movie. It is entertaining, but not overly so that you can get away from the campiness of the movie. There isn't a major issue with campiness, but when it is the main driver forward, it can get old quick. IMDB gave this a 5.7 and I think that is a bit rough. It is a 7 at best.

Parental Rating

There is nothing overtly wrong with this movie. There isn't hard language, no sexual activity, and the violence is there, but not graphic. There is one scene with a Raiders of the Lost Ark type German bone thing, but it isn't crazy. I think based on the rules, both of them would approve. Not sure they would like it a lot, but they would watch it.
