One of the best racing game you'll ever play if you are a fan of Top Gear or The Grand Tour

Gameplay

This was so fun. There is so much to do around the area and at the same time there is too much to do. Let's start with the bad things. The main issue is the collectables. You have 3 major types. Roads, XP signs, and Mascots. The mascots, super cute and fun to find. The XP signs are pretty good and come in 3 verities. 1000 XP, simple and around the roads. 3000 XP, just off the beaten path. 5000 XP, which are always a pain to get and usually require some kind of jump at the right angle. The last thing, and the most annoying is the roads. There are 671 roads, and you only get credit if you run over the ENTIRE road. This is where the collecting of them makes it annoying. If you miss a simple section, you might not be able to see it on the map. There legitimately could be a pixel on the map that is missed making it almost impossible for you to find the missing roads. I am at 669 with a lot of people being right around that. These roads are a destroyer of the fun that this game provides. I made it to the end of the festival, got the last ones I could find and spent an hour trying to find the last of them. No dice and that hunt really took the steam of single player racing out of me for now.

The cars are so diverse and fun to drive. I wasn't kidding when I said that Top Gear/The Grand Tour fans will love this game as you can see all the cars they reviewed, and you can feel like you are part of the crew. The amount of diversity that you get in the design of the cars is over the top. Some people of put Kim Jong-un on the car or Drake, and it just makes you laugh. I have at least 1 Dominoes delivery vehicle. I also get to drive some of my favorite cars in all existence such as the McLaren F1 and Porsche GT3 RS.

There are a lot of different events in this game. You have stunts/PR events, dirt races, track, drift, and more. I love the diversity and that diversity is what has made this the Host's favorite multiplayer game of the year already. This game came out about 2 weeks ago, and I think all of us have at least 30 hours and one of us having 100 hours. That also includes our extended friends who play with us. Xbox allows for you to have up to 12 friends in a "Convoy" to play together which is HUGE.

Graphics and Sound

It is stunning. I was amazed at looking at Mt. Fuji or as we jokingly say, Mt. Yotei. The rain and snow, which affects your driving substantially, makes for huge changes in the brightness or reflection of the roads. The cherry blossoms are stunning, the cars are stunning. It is just a beautiful game.

The sound design is also impeccable. Each car sounding different. The rain and lighting crashing around you. The cheering crowd. The only sound issue I have is the music. Each channel might have 6–10 songs. Meaning VERY quickly you get tired of the music. I just muted the music and played Spotify.

Story and Characters

There isn't one. You are just racing in the festival.

My Rating

This is a fun game and while the roads are annoying, the music is frustrating, it is incredible to play. Especially with friends. That by itself makes this a "GET THIS GAME" rating.

Parental Rating

There is no language. There is no violence. There is no sex. It is just racing, mostly in a sanctioned race. While my friends have said that their real life driving has gotten more aggressive, I think it is more sarcastic than real. This is a perfect game to play at home.
