First Blood
talk about the action as after the escape from jail that is 90% of this movie. We get that classic hip firing every gun, and the bandanna on the head. Now that I say this, I realize this movie is probably what made it the classic that it is.

Synopsis
A Veteran after coming home from Vietnam finds out his last friend in the unit has died. On the way out of town, a corrupt police officer arrest him for vagrancy.
Review
I know that this is a beloved movie to people, but it doesn't excite me at all. The story is alright, but I think that the lessons hold more weight now than the actual movie. The lessons of police overreach, abuse, and also the flip side, overreaction. I know that Rambo has an episode of PTSD in the jail, but as he is in the forest, he does have his faculties and takes it too far.
I want to pause there when talking about the morals of this movie and talk about the action as after the escape from jail that is 90% of this movie. We get that classic hip firing every gun, and the bandanna on the head. Now that I say this, I realize this movie is probably what made it the classic that it is.
I will also say that these movies feel so good with their epic settings. I mean you are in the Pacific Northwest full of the forest and this small town. It has a classic Americana vibe that always draws me to that section of the US.
My Rating
My final thoughts on this movie is that for the first 80 minutes of a 93-minute movie, there are no good guys. The police officers are way over the top and the ones that are, don't do anything to stop it. Rambo is also knowingly doing wrong, but doesn't stop and puts civilians at risk. The Colonel also has this air that he has a side game going on. So no one is a good guy. Until the last scene where you hear the emotion and grief from Rambo, but that doesn't justify his actions. I know that even now, how the world sees and handles veterans is abysmal, and it was so much worse after Vietnam since most of the civilian world didn't care about them at all. Blaming them for things that were and were not their fault. I think what lesson this movie has in 2025 is more that we need to pay attention to post-combat traumatic episodes. Enough grandstanding, the movie. This is an ok movie. It is a classic and I appreciate it for that, but it doesn't excite me. I am giving this a 7.
Parental Rating
There is a lot of violence and language. Hands down, my mom is out. As for my dad, this is the beginning of the time frame when I think language started to bother him. So he would have enjoyed it in 82, but today he would be an issue. I cannot say he would today. I am going to say rejected by both.
