F9: The Fast Saga

Synopsis

Another international terrorist is working against them. As always, their past is tied to Dom and his previous illicit affairs, however this time, that bond goes much deeper than any other person on his team.

Review

Woof. This is bad. There isn't much to get behind at all. All those things that you hate in the previous movies, i.e., jumping buildings, throwing cars into helicopters, etc. are cranked up to 11. There is body bending CGI, cars with electromagnetic impulses that somehow pulls everything to them including other cars, but doesn't move them closer to those items.

The story makes some weird decision. We have magic tricks that bring dead characters to life. There is people who have no business being part of a criminal/non-criminal spy group helping them with full knowledge of what is going on. There are also, so story beats that try and keep Paul Walker's character, but they bring Mia back and she somehow has all the knowledge of how to fight like she has been around the whole time and wasn't raising 2 kids. Then they try to say that he is happy raising the kids while she is part of the crew, when a movie or two ago they said he was "missing the bullets."

I know they can't bring him back, but they could have just left him out of the story or something like that. Something other than betraying his character. The action is fun, but the CGI looks like The Punisher One Last Kill's unfinished VFX at times with how bendy they are. It really just takes you out of it. I just remembered that Cardy B I think was in this and she was awful.

My Rating

When I looked the score from IMDB for this movie, and it was a 5.2, I laughed because that is kind of on par for what I was thinking. It was so low compared to the 82% of audience reviews on Rotten Tomatoes. It isn't good. I do really appreciate the meta joke of them being sent by God and were invincible. Rome thinking that he can't be hurt and convincing Luda. Those 2 morons riding a car into space is so dumb. I know that Tesla did it, but no one was in it and they didn't fly it around like they were in Star Wars. It's fun is the only thing that makes it viable, but even in this viable idea, it is still only a 5.

I didn't even talk about the dumb name.

Parental Rating

Language, and violence for sure. The scantily clad women is much more toned down than previous movies. However, I talked about the CGI and I really think it would push my dad over the edge. Its over the top. My mom has been out of this series a long time ago, but there is a pretty large blood-family element that hasn't been in previous movies that she would appreciate. Either way, based on the rules, Approved by Dad and Rejected by Mom.
