Edge of Honor
This is an extremely short book, but does trickle in some of the more recent concerns with a threat from within, rather than an external threat. The action is well paced and very well described with the right elements to keep you involved.

The Book in 1 Sentence
Harvath and his new bride take on a cabal of insiders threatening the world order.
Brief Review
This is an extremely short book, but does trickle in some of the more recent concerns with a threat from within, rather than an external threat. The action is well paced and very well described with the right elements to keep you involved. A weird place to start the series, but if it is going to quasi-reset, then it works.
Why I Read this book
New book in one of my favorite series
In-Depth Review (Favorite Quotes)
Lets start with the "bad." This book was short compared to the other more recent ones, like 60 pages shorter than average-ish. You kind of feel it in the fact that you feel it is missing something. Not anything of value per se, buy just something. The story is still full and make sense, but maybe it is the ending and just a good bit taking place "off-the-page." Even with that, the pacing is good.
The story itself is really interesting. To be honest, I feel it is one of the more plausible stories he has had. Between ego, corruption, fear, and broken promises, there is a lot here that speaks to what is going on now. With that, I also see an underlying issue with government and that is the institutional bureaucracy within the US Government and all the issues that come with that. Especially when people feel cheated out supporting this party or the other.
Brad Thor had a series, I think it was only one stand-alone book with a couple ties ins to others, called "The Athena Project." The description of the female operative is really well done and I think could be a place for him to revamp and revitalize that series. It has a place in the world he has built kind of like Lioness.
Rating
This might be one of my favorite in the series. It was short, but well paced. The action is on point and doesn't make you feel that Harvath is Superman. There is a humility and honesty in this book that I don't think I realized was missing in the last ones. I also just really like Harvath and Sylvie's story together and how they work with and for each other. This is an 8. I really hope the series continues like this.
