Synopsis

Olive lies about losing her virginity to cover up that she didn't want to hang out with friend. This story spreads through the school and only gets worse thanks to someone over hearing the lie.

Review

This is a super cute movie. Emily Stone is outstanding and her relationship with her parents is what every kid wants in their parents and every parent wants from their kids.

I think also there is also a lot of good morals and lessons in this movie that I typically do not talk about. However, those lessons are core plot points in the movie. Things like you have to take some ownership of your actions and the consequences of those actions, even if unintended. You also get to see that while people subscribe to a certain belief, that doesn't mean that they will be the way you expect. This applies to adults. The last one is that sometimes, people are exactly as you expect. Decent and kind.

Honestly the acting is outstanding. Stanley Tucci's dad role is so funny. The joke about the kid NOT being adopted is outstanding. I have seen this movie a few times and laugh every time. It just hit me right in the funny bone. This movie also reconfirms that Lisa Kudrow is completely overrated. She is static, narcissistic, and is no different from any other role she has EVER had.

My Rating

Criminal the rating this movie got. It is well shot, well directed, well acted. A wonderful story. What I wish my relationship with my Parents was like. This is a must-watch. It isn't perfect, some people are flat and boring. It happens. I am going to give this an 8.

Parental Rating

While the entire movie does discuss sexual content, and the consequences of that, but it isn't graphic. It has a very early 2000s verbiage of the events. So I think both my parents would be ok with it. The language is there, but limited. No violence, other than a couple slaps. Based on the rules, my parents approve. However, my dad would never watch this. Just not his content.
