Crazy Stupid Love

Synopsis

Cal is going through a divorce and because of that, his life is upside down and he meets a new friend, Jacob. Jacob is the perfect womanizer and Cal learns all the wrong things from him.

Review

This is one of my wife's favorite movies. Between this and Space Force she really likes Steve Carrell, but she doesn't like The Office. Who knows. Steve is outrageously funny in this movie and is a great Dad to all involved. What makes the story even better is the way that it weaves all the stories together and makes for a great ending.

I think there is also some really good chemistry between Ryan, Steve, Emma and the boy. The weak point is Julianne Moore without a doubt. I know the story is written that you are supposed to hate her, but her character isn't the issue. It is her acting. Her facial expressions do not change no matter what is going on. She doesn't show any emotion in what should be a VERY emotional movie.

My Rating

While it may be a movie that I have watched multiple times since my wife and I got together and it is funny, it just isn't for me. I laugh, its cute, but just doesn't feel very full for most of it. Just really up and down. I am not upset to watch it, but I am not watching it by myself. It is a 7.

Parental Rating

This one is going to be interesting to think through. While a lot of it is suggestive as far as material, there isn't really a lot of actual sex. There is a decent amount of language and no blood or gore. I think this movie is right on the line that both of them would approve this movie.
