Synopsis

A group of friends head out for a weekend to a remote cabin, where chaos reigns after someone isn't who they seem.

Review

I'm going to be short. This movie is ungodly predictable, low depth, overly crass, and a waste of time.

First off the story is told in the first full line of the movie. Combine that with the trailer and there isn't a surprise other than how dumb these characters and the cast are. Jack Quaid is the worst offender of this for this movie. I know people love him, but he plays so poorly in this movie. Let alone, if he actually cared about Iris, he wouldn't have called her an "F-bot." He would have been more gentle than that and would have said something else.

As for the story, there are some massive plot holes. Without giving too much away, a person dies, and they don't think the bot is recording what is going on. It just seems so stupid in a world where they can build bots like this.

My Rating

I was expecting this movie to be scary. I was expecting it to be a thriller. However, it feels like a crappy teen movie from the early 2000s. There isn't anything inventive about this. The story is pitiful, the action is limited, and the characters are poorly written. I saw a review that says this is supposed to be like Ex Machina. That is 100% my issue. Ex Machina was 1000% better in story, action, and acting. It is a poor knock off. I am not sure how it got 89 by audiences on rotten tomatoes. This is a 5 or 6. I was on an airplane watching it and I wish I had watched something else.

Parental Rating

Lots of language. Blood and gore. Really weird sex scenes even though they are limited. I see no reason that either of my parents would like this movie for the content or story. Rejected by both.
