Brooklyn Nine-Nine
This isn't a crazy good show. It is highly entertaining in the fact that it is easy to jump in and out of the show. There are some reoccurring jokes, but you can pick up on the theme pretty quickly. The jokes are pretty low brow, but they are for sure fun.
Synopsis
The 99th precinct gets a new captain who is a interesting character. The team of detectives learn to work with him all while growing together. Watch as their lives take interesting turns and friendships grow.
Review

The acting is pretty good. This is an 8 season show and you can see the team get better and better as the seasons go on. There are some serious growth in skill and style that happens throughout the series and it really is in combination with the growth of the characters in the story.
The story is where this show shines. There isn't a "main" character that doesn't do some extensive growth (Hitchcock and Skully are the ones that don't). Each character goes through some major changes in character and it is really fun to watch the way they rub off on each other. Jake and Amy then Jake and Holt are the true heroes of this show. The way each of them learn from each other and act like each other unconsciously is really cool to watch.
My Rating
My wife is a big fan of this show and it is probably her second favorite after Mindy Project. That statement alone from her is high praise. There are more than a few laugh out loud moments in this show that just make it icing on the cake. This isn't perfect. While the show doesn't really have any long winded episodes or plot, some of the characters brought in were way less than perfect. This is a solid 8.
Parental Rating
Language is light, no sex, and no gore. Based on the rules, both my parents will approve. However, this comedy is not for them. Plus the overall story isn't really about family. So I don't think they would actually watch it. However, they approve based on the rules..... hard for me to say that when I KNOW they would never watch it.
