Synopsis

A group of criminals kidnaps the daughter of a crime lord and hold her in a mysterious house. As the night goes on, they realize that this isn't the job they signed up for.

Review

This is labeled as horror, but it isn't horror. It has some horror elements, but it is a horror like Warm Bodies is a horror. More time spent on comedy and action, than on the actual scary or horror elements. Yes, the monster is creepy, but more in a "Yo, this chick is crazy" creepy than actually scary.

So the story is ok. There is a good mystery the holds on for about half the movie, and then the second half is more of action. However, the action is punctuated by this weird explosive body thing that just keeps happening, and I am not sure how I feel about it. There are some typical tropes, there are some nice changes, but mostly I think what I enjoyed the most and got burnt out on the most was the comedy. There were some good one liners that made me laugh, but the big dude was basically an Earth Drax from Guardians of the Galaxy.

I am not entirely sure of the lore in this movie about how Vampires are made. Sometimes it is just biting, other is biting and sharing of blood. I'm sure there is a 3rd way out there as well. I am also not sure if it actually makes people stronger or not, but it does make some dance like a ballerina and that is just dumb at times.

I've sat on this review for a couple of days mainly because I am not sure what to think about it. It wasn't an action movie, it was a weird comedy horror. I don't know. The explosions of the dead vampires was just too much especially since sometimes it would kill them and others it would just remove what got it. Then you add in the fact that the main threat could have killed them at any time and still managed to get caught? Twice? I don't know. It was fun movie to watch, but I will never watch it again and won't go out of my way to recommend it. 6 for the comedy, but I pretty sure it deserves to be a 5.
