A Working Man

This is very much your post Taken typical kidnapped person-of-interest movie. And that might be the most accurate and complete review that you'll ever see. The only real difference is the main star and the amount of Bull vs. Owl techniques. Jason just bulldozes his way in.

Review

This is very much your post Taken typical kidnapped person-of-interest movie. And that might be the most accurate and complete review that you'll ever see. The only real difference is the main star and the amount of Bull vs. Owl techniques.

What I mean is Jason Statham in this movie is a bull. While he does smart things, he is constantly outsmarted by the enemy, and so he has to run in head first to get it done. And that is the best part of this movie. Jason just going to town on people with any manner of weapon or fist.

The story is really where this fails. We have a blind friend who is obviously not blind, as he doesn't tap or anything, he just reaches. He is also a former teams buy so he should know not to shoot a bow at someone when he can't see, but that is how we meet him. There is also the way he finds these people, never gets hurt, and somehow constantly doesn't think things through and is just running around with his head cut off. Lastly, the girl that was kidnapped ends up nonchalantly killing someone as if she has been with Jason Statham in the military. Her fighting back, no problem, her killing someone, the way that she did and her reaction to it, just adds to this weird anti-climatic ending. Also, to give a spoiler, Jason just leaves a weapon with his fingerprints on it at the final fight and then says a small goodbye. It makes ZERO sense and this constant "Brother" just makes the whole military portion feel like it was ripped from the movies rather than from an actual background.

My Rating

This is a movie like Death Race, where the story is kinda crap, the acting is a little better, but the action entertains you. There is nothing to write home about for this movie. It isn't great, it isn't bad. It just is. I am going to give this a 6 which sucks because I like Jason Statham.

Parental Rating

Language is decently light for a movie like this, but still there without the Shrinking level of the F-word. The violence is abundent, of course, but not terribly graphic in the way you'd expect. There is also a lot of drug related content. Overall, my dad would watch this if it were on. My mom won't go near this with a 10 foot pole. Approved by Dad, and rejected by Mom.
