A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms

However, for a pure fantasy world, this is outstanding. No magic, no elves, just a fantasy knightly world where honor is lost to fable. It will easily be the best show I watch all year and the one I will recommend all year.

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms

Synopsis

The beginning of the tale of a hedge knight, Sir Duncan the Tall, and his Squire, Egg, who enter a tournament. The actions that take place during the tournament, push the realm to be a far different place than it would have been without the death of a dragon.

Review

This takes place about 100 years before the story told in Game of Thrones and it has references from that to this show and from this show to people there. It is a great way to pull in that and The House of the Dragon into this show.

What this does better than either of those that it is 30-45 minute episodes. This gave the writers finite time to tell the story and I think that worked for them. The show is full of amazing jokes, devastating lows, shocking scenes, and brutal combat.

There are some absolute highs when you look at the acting. Claffey and Ansell are dynamites on this show. I cannot express to you how proud Ansell should be for his performance. Award worthy through and through. I didn't like some people, but I think the is obviously the intent. In general, I feel like some people were set up to be bigger characters than they were, and other big ones were left to the wayside. I guess I'll have to see what the next season looks like to see if they show up.

My Rating

I loved this show. It has been a while since a new show has really made me itch for the next one. Ok, well there is The Pitt. However, for a pure fantasy world, this is outstanding. No magic, no elves, just a fantasy knightly world where honor is lost to fable. It will easily be the best show I watch all year and the one I will recommend all year. Part of the recommendation is the fact that you don't have to watch Game of Thrones to understand it. It can stand alone, and I was honestly hesitant to watch it because I thought it was going to be so reliant. This is a one of the fastest 9s I will ever give.

Parental Rating

Not now, not tomorrow, not ever will my mom or dad watch this. The amount of descriptive vulgar language is over the top. There are swinging dicks, ladies of the night, songs, and comments about a particular sexual act and all of that is within the first 2 episodes. They would run from this faster than the devil runs from church. Rejected by both without a thought.
