Twisters
Synopsis
A former PhD student who is still dealing with the stress of losing friends during a tornado is asked to return to Oklahoma to study them with new technology.
Review
I was pleasantly surprised by this movie. I had heard good things, but Glen Powell usually annoys me so I was expecting the same. However, this did really well. He is much more human and less pretty boy in this movie and I liked it.
The main three people, Daisy, Glen, and Anthony, are all outstanding. They all play a real people and they are completely believable which always makes a movie better. They lean into the story and play real people.
The CGI and special effects are outstanding. For the most part. The tornadoes are awesome, the people and cars flying away do not. Honestly, I think that [[Twister]] does a better job in that department especially with the cow floating by. However, something this movie does really well as compared to them is just the beats to match that movie. It was really nice to see some of those same elements in a different era. Now that I think about it, it might be a modern copy. Its close.
My Rating
I really enjoyed this movie. Was watching while stuck in a chair and it was distracting enough to not let me feel uncomfortable. I enjoyed the acting and the story a lot. This is an 8 that I am not sure how they could have gotten better, but it just wasn't perfect.
Parental Rating
This is 100% a movie my parents would watch. They watched and liked the original one and this one is just a modern version. Light language, limited blood, no sex or nudity, and some wholesome story content. Approved by both.
