Review

I am not sure what I am supposed to say about this show other than this is going to be a hot take. This show, like the audiobook, is lack luster at best. It isn't bingeworthy, it isn't cohesive, it isn't complete.

The episodes are full of nice visuals and designs, but the story is empty. The episodes are mini episodes and the over arching bad guy, "Desire," doesn't play buy 5 seconds an episode and just sits there "maliciously rubbing their hands together saying they have plans" like a cartoon character. No real conversation about plans, no backstory about why they hate the Sandman. Same with "Death." They don't do anything and it is so frustrating.

The "Cereal" side story line with the Vortex was the most interesting thing of this show and honestly the only reason I wanted to watch multiple episodes in a row. However, it still wasn't enough to make me watch 2 in a row.

There are a few characters that I felt did a good job, but most I felt were over acted or terrible. I don't know if I will watch more of this show.

My Rating

I was entertained enough to not hate my life while watching this show; However, that isn't enough to justify the slow and painfully empty story. If you love the comic/graphic novel/book, then you'll probably like it, but it isn't worth paying for. Thankfully it is on Netflix. Not worth the cost of one month though. Giving it a 4.

Parental Rating

This cross some religious lines so both my parents are out. Outside of that, I think my Dad would watch it if it was on TV, but I don't think my mom would be entertained.
