The Accountant 2

Synopsis

Raymond King is wrapped up in something odd, and it means, that he is assassinated. The new FinCen Director, Marybeth, and Christian Wolff continue his investigation to figure out what happened to him.

Review

I can't tell if this movie is just as good for different reasons or not as good because it isn't the same as The Accountant. There are some huge departures from the original, but it makes up for it in other ways. However, there are some parts that I just feel are less than good.

Let's start with the bad. I think Medina, does an ok job. She has the same energy as the last movie, but because she isn't investigating, I find her getting in the way more than supporting. Also, how is one of the best assassin's in the world almost going to get beat by someone with a limited formal fight training. She does have some history of fighting as a teenager, but it isn't like FinCen is giving advanced hand to hand or tactical training. It reminds me of Daredevil season 2 I think where a girl with a busted spine is able to fight someone in the FBI.

Now the good. This movie has a LOT more comedy elements and brotherly bickering. It makes for some honestly hysterical elements as well as some feeling of realism. The gun fights are a bit more over the top, but still very enjoyable. The action is well done, and the story is pretty decent. I don't hate it, but it doesn't feel like it adds anything to the universe for me. Ben and Jon are my favorite parts. They move like they have been working together for a long time and their chemistry just feels natural for brothers. Especially the line dancing scene.

My Rating

I gave the original a 9 and while this one is very good, it just doesn't hit as well as the first one. I think it is the supporting roles are just not as good. So I will give this an 8.

Parental Rating

Lots of language and violence. Less sex, not that there was a lot in the first one, or really any, actually. I just through the bar scene in Sicario and this bar scene together and thought they were part of the first movie. My mistake. Either way, my mom, and dad are both out. Too much language for my dad and too much violence for my mom. Rejected by both.
