Synopsis

A high profile prisoner offers a $100 Million reward for anyone who sets him free while being arrested. This causes a newly formed SWAT team to battle their way to get him to Federal Prison and out of their hands.

Review

This is an older movie, so some of the realism in the gun fights show their age. It was 2003 so it makes sense and overall, it still looks pretty good. I am not mad at it. The fist fights though are pretty bad though. A lot of pushing and shoving without any fighting or obvious forced perspective.

Jeremy Renner, Michelle Rodriguez, Colin Farrell, LL Cool J, and the man, the myth, the legend, Samuel L. Jackson all do a great job. It is very weird to see Jeremy Renner being this grungy, cocky guy after seeing him in the MCU for so long, but it was a nice change. I liked it. However, he is the weakest performance out of this group. Just really a weakly written character, not so much the performance, but it wasn't great either. Mr. Jackson on the other hand puts on a clinic for his team, and really I think Michelle Rodriguez gets better after this movie.

Story isn't bad. Nothing crazy going on and honestly nothing unbelievable other than all the different gangs coming together in attempt to get him out. It looked like you had Mexican Cartel, Crips or Bloods (Maybe both), and Triads all working to save this guy. That was the crazy part.

My Rating

I've watched this movie a couple of times. It isn't crazy good, but it isn't terrible so if you want a movie that you can turn on and be entertained for about 2 hours, this is right in line with that. It is a 7.

Parental Rating

There is only so much language you can throw into a PG-13 movie, and they didn't even get close. Because the violence isn't graphic as far as blood showing, it is pretty benign. There is no sexual content or nudity. Dad approves and Mom rejects.
