Synopsis

A mother of three, a new husband, and view of a coming doomsday, lead to two missing children who turned up dead and a mystery still unsolved.

Review

These are the types of documentaries that I do not like. It is just an expanded story of what happened with the son providing some commentary. No answers, not additional story, nothing that I couldn't read in the news really.

The story is horrendous. A woman who is obviously having a mental health episode and manipulates others to do what she wanted. I am not sure if she was being manipulated herself or not, but either way it is a sad story. I know that some might say that it is her belief and I shouldn't call that a mental health episode, but it isn't that. It is obviously not that. She went from a decently heavy dosage of faith to believing her own daughter, husband, and others were infected with demons. She then quite possibly was involved in their death. That isn't faith. That delusion.

Mostly the story was interesting to tell, but I really felt like the whole time I was going to get a GoFundMe ad at the end for court cost or something. There was a scene where the son and his family were on a beach, and it just looked like a commercial for anti-depressants or something like that.

My Rating

I don't want to take away from this documentary. I just don't know what the purpose of it was. It is well done when talking about the story, but the interviews feel more staged than they should be. I don't know how else to describe it. I am giving it a 6 as the story is incomplete. Maybe give me more background on the new husband? I am not sure.

Parental Rating

I don't see them watching this one. Where there is no sex and little to no language, the content isn't what they would consume. There is discussion of human remains and I think for those reasons they are out. Rejected by both.
