Review
How can you not like this movie? Denzel Washington, Will Paton, and a young Ryan Gosling and Hayden Panettiere. A story that fills you with hope and reminds you that we are all just trying to make it through this life.
I love a good movie based on a true story and having spent a good portion of my life in Virginia, this one is for sure good. The acting is beyond top-notch. I think what makes it so good is just watching the younger actors really put on a show. They don't shy away from putting their most intense performances on. There are a couple scenes with Hayden where honestly she does a better job than some supporting cast adults.
The story is outstanding. The back and forth, the exposure to other's issues and life events that continued to help the others understand what they were experiencing. I also really like the jokes that were thrown occasionally. The best Momma joke you will ever hear is in this movie.
My Rating
This was one of the first DVDs that we owned in my family and I remember saying that only DVDs I was going to own was this and U-571. Granted, Blu-ray and streaming came, but I still do keep a copy of this. Solid movie. This is a 9.
Parental Rating
VERY limited language. No sex and no violence. My mom doesn't like sports movies, but she does like this movie. It tells a great story that has good morals. It's football, my dad is in. Approved by both.
