Power Moves
The Book in 1 Sentence
Who knew that networking could actually help you move up in the world?
Brief Review
Adam Grant has some great interviews that tell of really interesting changes in the dynamics of power. This short book is a great quick listen that will at least provide you with some insight into your own motivations and how to support and grow yourself.
Why I Read this book
Free on Audible and I am working to grow myself into mentoring.
In-Depth Review
This was an excessively short book. I was able to finish it in 2 days while working out so that should say something. However, the shortness does not take away from what it provides. Think of it more like a podcast and the quick hits of information that can help spike your curiosity about how to improve your team and yourself in the business world.
Adam provides some great "Power Tips" that are worth thinking about.
How my life / behavior / thoughts / ideas have changed as a result of reading the book.
One of the major items that has stuck with me is the idea of empowering your team to make decisions and move without having to double check their decisions. Even if that is just bringing them in to get their opinion, it is worth that to help the team feel like they have a voice.
Rating
This is short and in general I am not a fan of that because I really want more. However, the information provided is a great way to introduce some powerful items that are worth thinking about in the work place. 7 and it could be a little higher if it were a bit longer and things were fleshed out.
