Pitch Perfect

Synopsis

A freshman is forced to join an a cappella group in order for her dad to pay for her to become a music producer. However, in the course of working with the group, she makes lasting friends while competing against the male rivals.

Review

What is not to like about this movie? You have incredible comedy, some drama, and fun signing. The story is pretty good, and I think resonates with most people who have shown up to a new location.

The acting is pretty good. Rebel Wilson makes this movie so much better than I think it would have been without her. I am not a huge fan of Adam Devine but the way he and Rebel play off each other and the shade thrown is outstanding. It is one of my favorite parts of this movie. If you haven't seen him tell the story of auditioning for the part, you should watch the video below. It is so funny.

One of the things we do need to talk about is the throw up scenes. They are vile, not even close to funny. I say that, but I just chuckled thinking about it, so I guess it is kind of funny. I think the acting is pretty good. There are really any issues with it and appreciate the meta jokes that are made about some background characters.

My Rating

This is a classic feel good movie. There is angst, love, and friendship. The singing is also really well arranged and choreographed. Also, movies are super important. I am giving this an 8.

Parental Rating

There is mild language, no sex but some sexual references, and no violence other than a couple punches. I know that my parents, specifically my dad doesn't have any desire to watch this, and I think my mom enjoys it. I am going to say approved by Mom and rejected by Dad.
